WHAT HIFI AWARDS 2023 - Vertere DG-1S and PHONO-1 win big for a fourth year running!
For three years running, we’ve had the honour of being celebrated by ‘What HiFi’ in their revered annual product awards. Every year since 2020, both the Vertere DG-1S Dynamic Groove and the PHONO-1 MKII L have received coveted ‘Best Product’ awards in their relevant categories - a record we’ve been immensely proud of here at Vertere.
And now that record continues into a FOURTH consecutive year!
We’re delighted to reveal that, once again, both products have won prestigious 2023 What HiFi Awards in their respective category and price point classes.
Vertere PHONO-1 MKII L wins ‘2023 Best Phono Stage over £1000’
What Hi-Fi? has championed our custom-made preamplifier at every stage of its product evolution. From its initial release in 2019, to the most recently refined MKII L iteration, the PHONO-1 has been lauded with five-star reviews and annual ‘Best Product’ awards by the leading HiFi product reviewer.
In their most recent review of the PHONO-1 MKII L, What HiFi said that “careful evolution has made an already excellent phono stage even better”. In product testing, they enjoyed the way it “sounds even more lively and energetic than before”. Capping off their resounding review, What HiFi advises readers to not hesitate in introducing the MKII into their system, suggesting that “given a source and system of appropriate talent, it shines.”
Vertere DG-1S Dynamic Groove wins ‘2023 Best Turntable over £2000’
What Hi-Fi? has consistently lavished praise on the DG-1S - the most accessible premium record player in the Vertere range. Describing it as a “class leader”, What HiFi has been a long standing admirer of the Dynamic Groove’s “bold styling, impressive rhythmic drive, class-leading clarity, [and] clever engineering”.
In their 2022 review, What HiFi revealed that the DG-1S stood out for its engineering and “the exceptional nature of its performance”. Diving into its sonic qualities during product testing, What HiFi said the DG-1S sounded “rhythmically as surefooted as they come but also has a spring in its step when it comes to rendering dynamic nuances”.
Their purchase advice to readers couldn’t be more unequivocal. “We haven’t come across a similarly priced alternative that sounds as entertaining and informative as this. Buy with confidence.”
